Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı in Turkish) from west, on the road to Doğubeyazıt. Originally color slide, 1986.
A 4,200m dormant volcano, it is the resting place of Noah's Ark in the biblical story. As a result, periodically some nutcase expedition comes to search for the remains, much to the amusement of the locals. Quadtone in Photoshop. Yes, the grain is intentional. |
